What is a Shallow Casserole and why do you need one?
A shallow casserole is essentially a saute pan with two sturdy side handles instead of one long one. Like a saute pan, it has a flat bottom and high sides - like a cross between a saucepan and a frying pan. It’s perfect for risottos, gratins, stews, pasta, one-pots — and especially anything that needs to be transferred to or cooked in the oven. Thanks to its side handles, you can just pop it in and close the door. Most people aren’t quite sure what a shallow pan is, but once they start using one there’s no turning back.
Two handles for proper feasts
Make some room in the centre of the table — the Shallow Casserole is coming through. It’s a serious ally for anyone who likes cooking generous meals to be shared between family and friends. Its large cooking surface and high walls make it perfect for stews, sauce one-pots and big flavours. Its tight-fitting lid, which comes included, locks in steam for flawless braising, and because there’s no handle sticking out, it fits effortlessly in the oven. From the kitchen to the table, the Shallow Casserole looks every bit as good as it cooks.
Healthy, durable, and made in France
Atma’s Shallow Casserole is made of stainless steel. It’s the safest way to cook — completely free from PTFE, PFOA, or PFOAS. And unlike non-stick casseroles with Teflon (never a good idea), stainless steel won’t leach any nasties or microplastics into your food. The chemicals in synthetic coatings are not just a health risk, but also a real problem for the environment. They’re called “forever chemicals” for a reason. Not something you really want to cook with for your family and friends. What’s more, each Shallow Casserole is made in a family-run workshop in central France, and comes with a lifetime guarantee.
Questions you may have
What’s the difference between a shallow casserole and a saute pan?
The Shallow Casserole is a saute pan without a long handle, making it much easier to slip in the oven. Its two side handles mean you don’t need to sacrifice any cooking volume.
How do I care for my Shallow Casserole?
When you’ve finished cooking, add a little warm water while your pan’s still hot.
Leave it to soak briefly, then loosen any stuck-on bits with a wooden spoon or copper wire.
Finally, wash it up by hand or pop it in the dishwasher.
How does the lifetime guarantee work?
Atma provides you and your utensil with a lifetime guarantee against all material and manufacturing defects, as long as you follow the correct use and care guidance.
Damage caused by misuse or overheating is not covered.
