For searing, frying, braising and slow cooking - without any toxic chemicals
Halfway between a saucepan and a frying pan, with a flat base and high sides, itâs the perfect utensil for big vegetable sautĂ©s, golden potatoes, risotto, sauce-based dishes, pasta, one-pots, braised veal, caramel, seafood, baked dishes, even shakshuka. The possibilities really are endless with The Ideal Saute Pan, it simply excels at so many dishes and is mind-bendingly versatile.

Perfect for hearty gatherings
If cooking is about sharing, then look no further. The generous cooking surface and deep sides of a saute pan are tailormade for family-style recipes. Think sauce-based dishes, big trays of roasted vegetables, one-pot dishes. The snug lid is perfectly sized to seal in moisture, allowing you to braise or transfer to the oven. It looks great on the table for serving too (aside from resting meat - that's best done on a board). Just avoid high heat - its 3-ply stainless steel is extremely efficient and makes a little heat go a long way.

Kinder to you, kinder to the planet
The Ideal Saute Pan is the obvious choice for easy, healthy cooking. Itâs free from PTFE, PFOA, and PFOAS, and unlike Teflon-coated non-stick pans, it contains no toxins whatsoever. No chemicals and no microplastics will contaminate your food. Plus, chemical coatings found on classic non-sticks do real harm to the environment. Theyâre known as âforever chemicalsâ because they break down in nature so slowly. The Ideal Saute Pan brings an end to all this. Itâs time to say goodbye to your old non-stick saute pan and cook with a utensil thatâs genuinely healthy, for you and the planet.

Questions you might have
How do I choose the right saute pan?
Here at Atma, weâre pretty obsessed with the saute pan. Itâs a cross between a saucepan and a frying pan, with a flat bottom and high sides, so itâs extremely versatile. Itâs excellent for browning, frying, reducing, searing or boiling. Vegetables, sauces, meat, fish, even pasta and fruit - itâs a one-pan wonder. Youâll find yourself reaching for it all the time, so itâs worth picking one you truly love.
As always, it all starts with choosing the right material. The options are: stainless steel, cast iron, carbon steel, or non-stick coatings. Here, as with all our cookware, we swear by stainless steel. Its finish, quality, ability to diffuse heat and triple-layered construction make it simply unbeatable. Our 3-ply stainless steel contains no harmful chemicals, heats up fast and evenly for precise, flavour-packed cooking, and itâs tough enough to last you a lifetime.
Now you can enjoy a cooking utensil crafted with care, designed for precise cooking and thoughtfully engineered every step of the way.
If youâre still a bit worried about stainless steel sticking, donât underestimate yourself. Youâll pick up the right technique in no time and discover a whole new level of joy in the kitchen.
Stainless steel couldnât be simpler to look after. To start with, itâs dishwasher safe. If you want to see how it compares to other materials and coatings, weâve prepared a simple comparison table just above on the product page.
Then there's the question of size. Saute pans typically range from 20cm to 30cm in diameter. At Atma, we've designed two versions:
- A 24cm saute pan: ideal for 2 to 3 people
- A 26cm saute pan: just right for 4 to 5 people. Weâve also added a side handle to make carrying it that much easier.
Before you start, check that your saute pan works with your cooking zone - particularly if youâve got induction. Not all materials play nice with induction surfaces. The 3-ply stainless steel used by Atma is 100% compatible with every heat source including induction, so youâre good to go.
And one final detail to check: make sure your saute pan comes with a lid. Plenty of brands leave it out, even though itâs essential for proper saute cooking. Donât worry - Atma always includes the lid.
What are the differences between a frying pan and a saute pan?
Put simply, a saute pan is a cross between a frying pan and a saucepan. Both have a large cooking surface - ideal for searing, frying, or braising ingredients.
Unlike a frying pan, a saute pan comes with high, straight sides. Add a lid, and it holds onto heat beautifully, stopping your dish from drying out.
Originally designed for searing meat and vegetables with just a splash of oil or butter, then finishing with a gentle, slow cook, the saute pan has quickly become a true kitchen staple thanks to its versatility. Think generous panfuls of stir-fried veg, crispy sautéed potatoes, meat cooking in sauce, and pretty much any dish that needs a fierce start and slow finish. Curries, braised stuffed meat, veal stew... you get the idea.
And the cherry on top? The Saute Pan also excels at finishing off pasta and making rich, velvety sauces. Youâll have never tasted a Spaghetti al limone like it.
Itâs also really easy to clean. Whether youâre a fine gourmet looking for perfect presentation or a food lover in search of a stainless steel saute pan with generous depth, youâre in for a treat. Itâs effortless and inviting every time you use it.
How do I care for my stainless steel saute pan?
To make cleaning a breeze, use room-temperature water to deglaze your saute pan straight after using it. Never use cold water, as the thermal shock could damage your pan.
Let it soak for a few minutes, then lift away any stubborn stuck-on bits with a wooden spoon or copper wire before putting it in the dishwasher or washing it by hand.
