Chabret, chopping block expert since 1885

Since 1885, Chabret chopping blocks have been a benchmark for the food industry, restaurants, and private individuals. It is the French manufacturer specializing in end-grain chopping blocks. They are made in France, in Saint-Bonnet-le-Château, in the Loire region, by passionate cabinetmakers.

It all begins in the forests of the Jura

The Chabret team selects the finest tree species with above-average fiber density. It's then a story of passion and tradition. The technique used, end-grain, involves sawing perpendicular to the trunk fibers. The resulting blocks are assembled one by one to make up the log.

A unique model, designed by the Atma team

We designed our own chopping block with the Chabret workshop. After numerous tests, we opted for an end-grain chopping block with a checkerboard pattern made of two species: beech and walnut. Two shades that blend perfectly. For the design, we opted for square blocks and an offset positioning to bring a modern look and texture to the chopping block.

The questions you ask yourself

Do I need to prepare my chopping block for first use?

Before using your chopping block for the first time, apply 1 to 2 tablespoons of neutral cooking oil (sunflower or grapeseed) to all surfaces of your chopping block using a clean cloth. Avoid olive oil, which makes the surface sticky.

How do I clean and maintain my chopping block?

For quick cleaning, a damp cloth is enough to maintain your chopping block. However, avoid getting it too wet to prevent the wood from swelling. Do not leave your chopping block soaking in water.

In addition, we recommend oiling your chopping block every 30 to 60 days with a neutral oil. Avoid olive oil, which makes the surface sticky.

Is the end grain chopping block resistant to scratches and cuts?

Absolutely! The vertical arrangement of the wood fibers in our chopping block creates a cutting surface where the wood fibers are denser and tighter. This specific arrangement, called end grain, gives the chopping block better shock resistance and self-healing capacity. It's an accessory you'll keep for years!

Juste trop beau
