Cooking salmon in a pan

Tips to Prevent Salmon from Sticking to the Pan
To successfully pan-fry salmon, you need salmon and... a non-stick pan. They are both equally important. The salmon must be fresh and the stainless steel pan must be of high quality. Place the pan on the hob over low heat. A surefire test to see if your pan is at the right temperature is the water drop. Pour a drop of water into the hot pan; if it slides and dances on the surface, it's perfectly heated. Use olive oil or butter to lightly grease the pan. Make sure the salmon is at room temperature before cooking to avoid thermal shock, which could cause it to stick.
Ideal Cooking Time for Perfectly Cooked Salmon
The cooking time for pan-fried salmon varies depending on the thickness of the fillet. For a salmon fillet about 2.5 cm (1 inch), cook over medium heat for 4 to 5 minutes on each side. Here's a new tip: to tell if the salmon is cooked, the flesh should be opaque and flake easily with a fork. Turn it only once to preserve its integrity and flavor.
